• Spanish and Portuguese, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Medieval Iberian Studies

     

    The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Medieval Iberian Studies with a preferred focus on Islamic and/or Sephardic Spain to begin in Fall of 2018. Research interests and discipline are open. Evidence of scholarly excellence, fluency in Spanish, and the ability to teach courses in Spanish in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese are required. We welcome applications from candidates who are also fluent in one or more of the following languages: Arabic, Berber, Catalan, Galician, Hebrew, Judeo-Arabic, Judeo-Spanish, and Portuguese. An interest in active cooperation with the Classics and Mediterranean Studies Program, Jewish Studies, and Religious Studies is welcome as well. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2018. 2/2 course load with competitive salary and benefits.
